(John) David CAUTE

(born Alexandria, Egypt 16 December 1936) is a British author, journalist and historian. He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Wellington, Wadham College and St Antony's College, Oxford. He was elected a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford in 1959, but resigned in 1965. From 1966 Caute held various, mostly temporary, academic positions. He was Literary Editor of the New Statesman 1979-80
