Eugène Ionesco

Né en 1912 à Slatina (Roumanie), d'un père roumain et d'une mère d'origine française, élevé à Paris et en Mayenne, Eugène Ionesco a inventé une nouvelle sorte de théâtre avec La Cantatrice chauve, pièce qui se joue sans interruption depuis plus de vingt ans. Grand Prix littéraire de Monaco en 1969, Ionesco a été élu à l'Académie française en 1970. Rhinocéros a été créé à l'Odéon-Théâtre de France par Jean-Louis Barrault.
