(Sir) Terence (Mervyn) RATTIGAN
Born in Kensington, London, 10 June 1911. Educated at Sandroyd School, Cobham, Surrey, 1920-24; Harrow School, Middlesex (scholar), 1925-30; Trinity College, Oxford (history scholar), 1930-33, BA 1933. Served in the Coastal Command of the Royal Air Force, 193945: flight lieutenant. Recipient: Ellen Terry award, 1947, 1948; New York Drama Critics Circle award, 1948. CBE (Commander, Order of the British Empire), 1958. Knighted, 1971. Died November 30, 1977.
