Born in New Jersey, July 7, 1956. Educated at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, B.S. 1978; Yale University School of Drama, New Haven, Connecticut, M.A. 1981. Married Leslie Lyles in 1986. Recipient: McArthur award, 1984; San Diego Critics Circle award, 1989, 1990.
