Nikolay Nikolayevich Yevreinov
(1879-1953)
Russian theatre director-producer, theorist, critic, and dramatist. Beginning as a music and law student, and after a brief stint as an actor, Yevreinov founded in St. Petersburg the Theatre of Yore (Starinnyi Teatr, 1908-1912), dedicated to the production of pre-realistic drama — mediaeval moralities, commedia dell'arte and pastorales
