La réunion des amours

(Loves' Reunion)

Pierre Carlet de Marivaux (1731)

One-act allegory

The Olympian gods convene to help Virtue define her ideal consort. Cupid and Love, who are both present, quarrel over their respective merits. Jupiter settles the dispute by suggesting that the two forms of love combine, with Cupid becoming less perverse and Love less silly.
