Comedy of courtly romance.

Lélio, the Prince of Léon, having saved the realm of the Princess of Barcelona, finds he has become the object of her love, although he desires Hortense, a lady whom he has rescued from bandits. The King of Castile arrives at court disguised as a royal ambassador sent to seek the hand of the Princess for his master. After a complex series of intrigues and impersonations, the play ends with the union of Hortense and Lélio and of the Princess with the King.
