Comedy - (1945)
Georgina Allerton is a young woman who entertains romantic daydreams about Jim Lucas, her ineffectual brother-in-law. One morning, while she tends her failing bookstore, she is wooed by a brusque young journalist, Clarke Redfield, whom she decides she despises. Later she is offered an illicit romance by a debonair businessman, George Hand, who seems more appealing. But when Lucas, who has been rejected by his wife, proposes that Georgina fly with him to Reno, she nearly accepts him. Redfield, however, energetically pursues Georgina, taking her to dinner, the theatre, and a nightclub. At 3 a.m. Georgina's parents are awakened by a call from their daughter telling them that she and Redfield have eloped.
